My Story

I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness and I remained a Jehovah's Witness until I was 25 years old, when I finally let myself admit that I did not believe the teachings of the religion.

What lead to me leaving the religion was realizing that no matter how much I prayed to Jehovah to help me overcome addictions and habits I knew he disapproved of, I never had any success. The teachings of the religion left me with no explanation for my failings other than I was not praying enough, or I was simply beyond saving. Both of these things I knew to be untrue.

When I left the Jehovah's Witnesses, the loss of family, friends, community, and way of navigating and understanding the world was incredibly painful. The fear, shame, and anger I felt was overwhelming. I fell quickly into a deep depression that lasted many years.

Eventually, I decided enough was enough and I began looking for help. I started going to therapy and looking for ways to understand my experiences. I experimented with and researched many different religions and belief systems. I learned about religious trauma syndrome, its symptoms and causes, and how to heal myself from the fallout of indoctrination.

I decided that I want to help others who are going through similar struggles with leaving religion. I become a certified health and wellness coach and a facilitator for online religious trauma support groups. I'm continuously learning and expanding my understanding of religious trauma and how to help people recover from harmful religious experiences. While the initial focus of my practice is on understanding and working through religious trauma, I find that my clients quickly get to a place where they feel ready to test and explore the freedom that leaving religion allows. This is where I help my clients discover for themselves what it is they want to do and create and how they can achieve their goals.

Helping people heal and recover from harmful religion is my passion. I feel incredibly honored to witness the courage and strength of my clients as they change their lives.
